Love does not act a fool and hurt you. Love does not blow wind up your skirt to send your attention in other directions. Love does not wound your spirit so that you question where God is. Love does not hold your gifts and dreams in bondage. Love does not smile in your face and talk behind your back. Love does not live in need and take but never gives. Love does not cause you to guess whether or not it is real. Love does not beg. Love is not a life of breaking up to make up. Love is not so black that it hardens your heart. Love is not so cold that it prances substitutions in your face. Love is not desperate. Love is not a machine. Love is not only for special occasions. Love is not built for others to always get what they need from you while you are left empty. Love is not convenient. Love is not complicated. Love is not so layered and conditional you cannot see. Love is not a knife in your back and kisses on your cheek. Love is not a badge of honor. Love is not earned. Love is not a trophy. Love is not so fresh and clean that it feels dirty. Love is not about you missing your life. Love is everything...and when you give that to yourself it will require you to ask for everything in return.
