SCIENCE FICTION PERFORMER FEATURE, EPISODE 13: IVORY CLOVER Ivory Clover The hottest lillass in Minnesota Grew up in: Bad Axe, Mi (no, seriously, its a real place...) Lives in: Stillwater Minnesota Groups you perform with: The Playful Peacock Showgirl Academy Q: Do you consider yourself a geek or nerd? A: Im definitely a geek. I love reading and watching sci-fi and fantasy movies. I have an entire bookshelf of books devoted to my macabre fascination....the various ways that society as we know it will collapse, from nuclear war to alien invasion. Q: What is your favorite science fiction movie or book? A: Stardust by Neil Gaiman. Ive seen the movie so many times I can quote the entire thing from memory. Q: Which fictional character inspires you the most? A: I have a t-shirt that says Janeway is my homegirl. Captain Janeway from Star Trek: Voyager was an amazing character. She had to be captain, friend, and occasionally even mother to her crew. She worked so hard to be true to the values and rules she had sworn to uphold and still be creative enough to get her ship home through a landscape that those rules were never intended for. Q: Do you have any geeky or nerdy hobbies, usual or unusual? A: I enjoy various role playing games and board games. I get together with friends on the weekends to play games like Talisman and Settlers of Catan and yes....I get wood for sheep. Q: What is your process of creating acts from pop culture and what inspires you most? A: I usually just start with a song that I like. Concept and costume come to me from there. Sometimes I am in the kitchen cooking or driving in my car while listening to music and Ill realize that Im dancing or choreographing in my head. If that happens basically every time I hear a song, that means I have to make sure I get a costume pulled together and get it on the stage! Q: What is your deepest, darkest nerdy/geeky secret? A: I have a lifesize cardboard cut out of Zachary Quinto as Spock in my living room and I talk to him every day. He gives me attitude frequently.
