Love is an odd sensation that can make you do and feel such strange things. It makes me feel that I need to prove myself worthy of her, not just once, but each and every day. And, in trying to do so, in trying to do things that will attract her attention, her approval, and her affection, I try too hard and engender her enmity, instead. For, indeed, she deserves so much better than me and I feel so selfish for loving her and being so insufficient to her lofty desires. She does not love me, nor should she. I do not blame her for not wanting to lower herself to my abysmal level, rather, I despise myself for not being someone she can allow herself to love. She makes me very happy, but I make myself so sad. Strange that loving someone as wonderful as her can make me feel so wretched about myself.
