Love is the primary demand of Christian faith. It’s the first thing we are required to flow in once we receive Jesus as our Lord. (John 13:34-35) You even need to love somebody that you don’t particularly like! We are not supposed to be known by our judgment, intolerance, or hatred of other people. We are supposed to be known by our love. Even if we do not agree with someone, we are called to love them anyway. The Apostle Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 13 that we can do all sorts of things in the name of God, but if we don’t have love, we are nothing—our works are in vain.
