Love is wonderful and can do miraculous things. Sometimes youll hear people talk about how love just simply isnt enough to make some relationships work.... and they are correct. The missing ingredient is acceptance. And acceptance implies a lack of dependence on a desired outcome or result. I just got an email from a much wiser man than myself discussing this topic. He says ...because we so sincerely want them to change, we attempt to achieve this end with criticism, judgment, nagging, control, withholding, shutting down, and ultimatums. Even if the goal is to connect with the big heart underneath that tough exterior, when we bark at the creatures in our lives, they just retreat further. Love is incredible. But loses its power when lacking acceptance. I encourage you all to practice these two things with every person you meet. Im going to make more of an effort myself.
