Loved seeing Miss Marys writing yesterday. Shows that she heard the speech sounds in every word she wrote, other than 2. As it was the ck speech sound on both occasions this is something we will look into. When you start using SSP you look at independent writing as it relates not just to the content, structure, use of vocab.....we can see how their brains are figuring out unfamiliar words because of their choices. This shows that her use of the SSP spelling strategy is spot on, she needs to become more familiar with certain choices for sounds (g/r/ea/t rather than g/r/ai/t etc) and we need to check she is hearing the ck sound in every word. When marking work, teachers underline the sound pic that needs to change, not the whole word. The way of teaching also means the kids get immediate feedback, and can self-correct, rather than being given marked work the next day, and having moved past being interested in it :-) Em https://youtube/watch?v=FKVr3gnl5ase
