Loving a Soldier The most lovely feeling and also the toughest thing.. TAGGED WITH LONG DISTANCE RELATIONSHIPS My soldier..the Anchor I always knew being in love with a soldier would not be as easy and rosy as I would want it to be and that being strong and patient would be the only option sometimes, actually…most of the times. I remember my friends asking me how I would manage and that it would be difficult but ask any girl freshly into a relationship and she will tell you how easy it would be because loving him is all you can think of and so managing would never be tough. I too said the same things to my friends and felt so proud. But then, started the real issue…facing the actual situation and not just talking about it. It has been two years since we have been apart and call me lucky or unlucky but I have met him just thrice. Lucky because some girls do not even get that much time with their soldiers, unlucky because as much as I may say that I am okay with meeting him even once a year, I long to be with him every moment, every day. I miss the times I spent with him every Sunday in NDA (National Defence Academy) without realizing that those days would mean so much once we were apart. There are days when I want him to pamper me, when I want to be hugged…days when I want him to sit beside me and listen to how miserable I feel because I had a bad day..I try to make myself understand but when I donot I tend to act crazy and seek his attention by fighting with him. Senseless, I know but somehow that gets me his attention and I know how miserably wrong this behavior is and I wouldn’t advise anyone to ever try it! He’s been kind enough to take all my nonsense and yet love me like he always did. Inspite of how many times I fight with him he is the one who is ever-optimistic and the anchor of our relationship. No matter what the circumstances, he is the one who always holds us together, inspite of all the work pressure he has back in his Unit, he does everything within his capacity to keep us together and I love him for that! He’s kept this relationship strong and stable for the 2 years that we have been apart and I would never take the credit for it.. I know I can never find a guy more committed…loving…understanding and so sensible.. I feel blessed..! September 17, 2013 1 Reply Handling the distance when in love with a Soldier.. I’ve been in love with my soldier for almost an eternity now..and no we’re not married yet..but will soon..someday.. As much as I may have prepared myself about the distance that we would’ve faced after he moved out of the same location as me, I now realize that no amount of preparation can be enough. He’s an officer now..and I’m about to begin my career as a professional..our schedules will begin to clash..there will be times when he will be busy..and then there will be times when I will be.. However with 2 years of this long distance relationship, I’ve learnt a lot especially about how to handle the distance and not let it come between us.. Here are a few tips that may help you if you too are in love with a Soldier.. BE PATIENT: He loves you but the poor soul hardly gets time to himself forget taking out time for you but when he does get time, you will be the first person he’ll call. Just be patient and wait for the call. Don’t hound him and get after his life when he couldn’t call you because his life is quite difficult already, support him instead of torturing him! You can always message him if you miss him, he will read it and smile and that will make his day. SURPRISE HIM WITH A LETTER: Yes I know we love in a world with great technology and mediums like WhatsApp..BBM and Facebook but nothing beats the charm of a letter. Write to him even if it’s just a page, he’ll appreciate it… love it and will keep it safely so he can read it when he misses you. You don’t have to write anything extraordinary or flowery, just be honest and tell him how much you love him and miss him. UNDERSTAND HIM: He is subjected to a million stressful situations everyday, on
