Loving (not!) how seemingly tens of thousands of people just became professional psychiatrists. And for those who are already bashing him as being a coward for choosing suicide, someone who is at that point believes: A) That no matter how much his or her death might hurt other people—and theyre often so self-loathing that they think that not that many people will actually be that saddened—the those people wont hurt nearly as much as he or she already does; B) that the rest of the world, including loved ones, will be better off without him or her; and C) that others, even loved ones, will eventually get on with their lives and be able to smile and laugh again, when he himself or she herself dont believe they ever will. Some people have tragic lives and their thinking never gets to that point. Others have tragic lives, lose all hope, and honestly see absolutely no other option. (Me, I took a whole bottle of Advil. Found out after being revived and having my stomach pumped that a bottle of Advil wouldnt have killed me but may have given me permanent kidney damage, or so I was told.) To call people who commit—or attempt—suicide “cowards” is kind of in itself a cop-out, and ironically only bolsters the notion that people have no sympathy for the depressed. It is the psychiatric equivalent of “Walk it off!”
