Low and very low income residents should be aware of this City - TopicsExpress

Low and very low income residents should be aware of this City program; this information is from Lark Ferrell, the City Housing Director: The City’s Owner Occupied Rehab and Emergency Repair Grant Programs are actively assisting low to very low income homeowners repair earthquake damage to their homes. These programs provide grants of up to $5,000 as well as no and low-interest deferred loans. We currently are in the process of assisting 38 mobile homeowners make earthquake repairs (primarily seismic retrofitting). Work has already been completed on several of these mobile homes, allowing the displaced residents to move back into their homes. In order to maximize our response time, we have added several new contractors that specialize in mobile home repair to expand the number of available licensed contractors assisting our clients. If you are aware of any low to very low-income resident who needs assistance with earthquake repairs to their home (or mobile home), please have them contact us at 257-9356. Once our funds are depleted, then it would be very beneficial to augment our funding with NVF earthquake funding. However, at this time, we do still have funds available to help additional residents (and will be going to Council today to try to augment this funding by reprogramming an existing housing grant).
