Low-cost condoms key to preventing AIDS worldwide An AIDS expert, at a conference in Malaysia, said that it is imperative to switch approaches to a public health perspective of prevention to stem the HIV spread. Andrew Tan, president of Malaysian Positive Network (myPlus) told The Seventh International AIDS Society Conference on HIV Pathogenesis, Treatment and Prevention in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia that prevention is crucial to fighting the spread of the HIV/AIDS. He said that prevention is ultimately the key to reversing this tide that has touched many individuals, families and communities; therefore it is imperative to switch approaches ... to a public health perspective. "Then we will see the beginning of the end of stigma and discrimination, both key barriers to implementing effective HIV prevention and treatment programs." He added. On the issue of condoms, Nelson Otwoma, the Executive Director for NEPHAK commented on the VAT Bill 2013, stating that NEPHAK does not support introducing tax on condoms, other contraceptives and sanitary pads.
