Low-fat trifle with low-fat yoghurt or full-fat decadence....which - TopicsExpress

Low-fat trifle with low-fat yoghurt or full-fat decadence....which one will cause weight gain? A popular diet program has released a guilt-free and healthy Christmas menu and it includes foods like skinless turkey breast, fat-free beef roast, a lentil loaf, and several fat-free salads. The dessert menu is a low-fat berry trifle and low-fat fudge cakes with ice cream. Now most people would not WANT to eat low-fat because it tastes, well, dry and tasteless, but they often force themselves to because they think they must. But most people wouldnt know that low-fat treats like this are likely to CAUSE weight gain!!! The trifle is made with berries, which gets my tick of approval, but it is full of vanilla fruche (full of sugar), orange juice, and sponge fingers! For people overseas, sponge fingers are a vanilla cakes you can buy here in any supermarket, and again, full of sugar along with other nasties. The cake is made with flour, sugar, and low-fat vanilla ice cream (again, full of sugar, and definitely full of other nasties to make something called ice cream taste like cream, with no cream! Anything but healthy in my opinion. And, likely to stack on the weight. Our bodies can only use or store a small amount of glucose at any one time...when we have more than that, we generally have to store it as body fat. Weve been taught to fear fat, but fat was never the culprit! Sugar and excess carbs are the real culprits. And the more we reduce fat, the more sugar and carb we eat!! Low-fat diets make us fat, no question. Now, my full-fat trifle on the right is ACTUALLY the healthy option. Cinnamon orange cake (made with almond meal) with fruit....and, loads of home made custard and whipped cream. And, whenever we eat a higher carb dish like fruit, the best way to eat it is with loads of fat. The fat slows down the digestion and prevents a spike in blood sugar. Definitely time to bring back the fat! #bringbackthefat
