Low prices, they are what everyone is after but what people dont - TopicsExpress

Low prices, they are what everyone is after but what people dont realize is that they are a cancer that is slowly eating away at the American economy. Why do I feel that way? Simple, there was a day when a low price was considered low because it was the most competitive price on the market. That in my opinion means that a company could afford to sell a product for a decent profit and other companies could then try and compete with that price. The price was realistic and the company could survive selling it that way. Fast forward to today and the definition of low price is rock bottom. One company has redefined low prices and that company is named Wal-Mart. We all know they use many shady tactics to get their low price including but not limited to skeleton crews, low wages, overseas buying, totalitarian supplier control and a total lack of customer service. I could break these categories down and elaborate but that isnt necessary. What they have done to the United States economy has sunk us. American factories were producing many fine goods until Wal-Mart began shifting our economy overseas for the low price. To stay competitive many American companies did the same thing. So now we get what we pay for. Cheap products made in factories with no labor laws or minimum wages to jack the price up. The items are garbage that quickly break and need replacing which is exactly what Wal-Mart likes. Keep the consumer shopping. Dont sell a TV that last 10+ years... 2 and then kaput. Meanwhile Americans are reveling in their great deals not even thinking about the damage those low prices are doing. They have put many companies out of business with one tactic. If the price is lower you lower ours. Not just the item they beat us on but every item in that category. Average companies buy items at a set price and need to make a certain amount to pay the bills and grow. Wal-Mart can cut their prices with no thought or concern with what they paid for it. How can you compete with that as a business? Its uncanny how you never meet a happy Wal-Mart shopper. Normally they couldnt get what they needed, nobody to help them, filthy store and no registers yet they keep going back week after week. The low price will allow you to compromise and forgive them of things you would be all over a grocery store worker/company for. You dont expect long lines at Target and you will certainly complain if there is. Wal-Mart...you expect it and its ok because there is no manager to complain to and if there was they would just tell you to shop elsewhere. Think about it.
