Lu Paisi trailer2 Lupaisi is a film set in Calabria, Italy, in Giffone (Reggio Calabria) It tells a year of the life of Giffone with its sacred and secular facts and through the people living there. Calabria is one of the poorest and underdeveloped region in Europe and Giffone, virtually isolated (20 minutes far from the nearest villages by car), is a symbol of the socio-economic conditions of these beautiful places. In spite of retardation and the level of poverty, people is strongly bond to their place in a quite inexplicably touching way. Giffoni is simply LuPaisi (the village) for all its inhabitans, for those who are still living there and for those who emigrated. This reveals how the connection between the giffonesi (Giffone inhabitants) and their motherland is so strong, even overpowering. Giffone is the Village with capital letter. The film is going to inspect affection for the motherland, people dignity and the solidarity, through its characters point of view. The film is divided into 4 different times of the year, that, together with the seasons, will beat both the secular and the sacred time. Nonostante larretratezza e la poverta, lattacamento per il proprio paese è fortissimo, quasi inspiegabile, commovenete. Giffone, per tutte le persone originarie, sia i residenti che i tanti emigranti, è semplicemente LuPaisi (il paese). Questo già denota come il rapporto dei giffonesi col proprio paese dorigine sia totalizzante. Giffone è il Paese con la P maiuscola. Il film andrà ad indagare attraverso vari personaggi, lattaccamento per la propria terra, la dignità delle persone, la grande reciproca solidarietà.
