Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh chi ef election officer (CEO) Umesh Sinha on Monday said directives have been issued to stop the BJP from distributing tea at its ‘chai pe charcha’ programmes’ free of cost. He said it amounted to luring voters and violated election model code of conduct. State BJP chief Laxmikant Bajpayi denied receiving any directive from the CEO. But he added any EC directive would be followed in letter and spirit. He blamed the EC for “turning a blind eye towards distribution of digital diary and charger to reporters by the Samajwadi Party on Monday”.
