Lucy is probably one of the stupid movies I have watched this year, a little worse than She’s Dating an Albularyo-Looking Gangster. Lucy was highly advertised as a sci-fi movie, and as a big fan of the genre, I was disappointed upon seeing that it was pure fantasy, devoid of any accurate science. Except for the car chase and the performance of Scarlet Johansson, everything about it pales in comparison to The Matrix, and to a certain extent, to Limitless, movies of similar genre and storyline, in terms of their scientific premise, the development of the story plots based on that premise, their execution, and philosophical narratives. The flawed movie talks about unleashing the full capacity of the human brain, stretching it further to question the purpose of human existence. But it treats its audience as dumb and unthinking as if only 10% of their brain capacity works, like the myth it tries to sell. No wonder messages were presented too literally.
