Luisa Spagnoli - the very charming story of one of the first and most important Italian lady entrepreneurs Luisa Spagnoli was the inventor of the Baci chocolate kisses filled with hazelnut and wrapped in a multilingual love note which in the beginning were called Punch. She created the Perugina chocolate factory with fellow confectioner Giovanni Buitoni in 1907 when she was 30 years old. A story is told about them fancying each other and initially exchanging clandestine messages through their own hand-made chocolates But Luisa Spagnoli, an incredibly talented woman, didn’t stop at just chocolates. She began raising a special breed of rabbit at her villa in Perugia and in 1928 became the first person in the world to turn the soft, silky fur of angora rabbits into shawls, boleros and fashion garments under the name L’Angora Spagnoli. Today, Luisa Spagnoli count about 100 fashion stores throughout the world, with headquarters firmly entrenched in Perugia.
