Luke 11:33-35 No one lights a lamp and puts it in a place where it will be hidden, or under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, so that those who come in may see the light. Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are healthy, your whole body also is full of light. But when they are unhealthy, your body also is full of darkness. See to it, then, that the light within you is not darkness. “Owning my story can be hard but not nearly as difficult as spending my life running from it. Attempting to erase my past is impossible. If I conceal my wounds out of fear and shame, my inner darkness can neither be illuminated nor become a light to comfort others. Embracing my vulnerabilities is risky but not nearly as dangerous as giving up on love and belonging and joy—Accepting my past mistakes and acknowledging they are necessary intricate pieces in the tapestry of my story makes me real. Only when I am brave enough to explore the darkness will I discover the infinite power of light.
