Luke 13:34, “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones God’s messengers! How often I have wanted to gather your children together as a hen protects her chicks beneath her wings, but you wouldn’t let me." The tenderness and the compassion of the Lord Jesus shines in this verse. Jesus, who had endured a lot of things from the Jewish people and the Jewish religious leaders, and for that matter so had many others before Him, was wanting something for Israel that they did not want. The Lord wanted to have a personal relationship with them but they refused to do what it took to have this relationship with Him. I look at our nation today and it reeks of immorality and a horrific lack of ethics. This is not a political issue. Our problem in America is a sin problem. I see a world where the things which God calls wrong are called right by our culture. I see a world where the things which God calls right are called wrong by our culture. But I do love our nation too much to not stand up and proclaim the message of God to her. I love the local church too much to not stand up and proclaim the message of God to her. America needs the regenerating power of the Lord God Almighty which comes through the shed blood of Jesus Christ on the cross and the reality of His glorious resurrection. The local church needs to repent of her laziness and apathy and return to loving Christ and loving one another. I do not know if I will ever see a great revival in the church or see America turn to the Lord. But I know this. I love my country and the local church too much to quit proclaiming Jesus Christ and Him crucified, buried, risen, and coming again.
