Luke 17:1 to 4 I was just thinking........... A psychiatrist received a postcard from one of his vacationing patients. It read, “Having a wonderful time. Why?” A lot of us feel guilty if we’re having a good time. But what kind of time do you think God wants us to have—today, this week, next week? Is life a vale of tears? Are we worms put here to struggle and toil endlessly? I think our theological, ecclesiastical ancestors who wrote the Westminster Confession of Faith had real insight into God’s will for us. The first catechism question is, “What is the chief end of man?” The answer is, “To glorify God and enjoy Him forever.” That is exactly the kind of time we’re supposed to have, glorifying God and enjoying Him. It seems to me that Jesus is giving us here a prescription for doing that on three separate levels. We are to begin on the level of forgiveness, then Gratitude then Praise.I’d say the same thing to you about all the people in your life who have hurt you, your spouse, your boss, your friend. Bless them and be grateful for all you have learned from them. If they could have acted more lovingly, they would have. Bless them and let the resentments go. That’s living on the level of gratitude .
