Luke 2:12 NKJV And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.” Do you ever pay attention to the signs that are put in front of you? If not, you shouldnt be surprised if you face obstacles in life because you didnt look at the sign. Even our body tells us signs and if we ignore them, we can go through great sicknesses like diabetes, having a heart attack, or something rare that couldve been detected earlier. God gave Adam and Eve a sign, but they didnt get it. He even gave the Israelites a signs all while they were in the wilderness. So now was the time to send another sign of the birth of the Messiah. This text explains what the sign was specifically. A baby wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. This sign would reveal Gods gift to the world. God saw that we were in trouble and we needed some help. So God decided to show us His love. This special gift was to send His only son in the appearance of man , to save the world. He gave us that option to choose Him so that we can have everlasting life. He wants us to recognize the sign. We should be able to hear His voice so we can understand what Hes trying to tell us. Many people struggle with things, but God sends us signs to help us. God gave Abraham a sign to reveal that He would be the father of a great nation. Whatever the sign is, we will never know what it is if we arent close to God. If we are close to God, we should know what His voice sounds like. God is always trying to tell us something. He wants to get our attention. He speaks to us in many different ways. If we do not pay close attention, we will miss the sign. Sometimes His signs come privately. Sometimes you can get confused and you end up not being sure is it was your voice or His voice. In the text, it talks about how the wise men knew what to look for. Now there were many babies being born the day that Jesus was born, but this sign had to be specific. Even we have our own version of signs. But we can get so preoccupied with our own lives that we cant even make room for a sign to come in. God is trying to get your attention! But if you keep ignoring God, He will get your attention one way or another. He wants to rescue us from the situations of life. God promises that He will deliver us from whatever life has for us. He delivered David when Saul was after Him. He had to deliver a dying world with no hope. He sent the sign of Jesus Christ to deliver us from sin and to send us a hope for everlasting life with Christ. Ephesians 2:4-8 tells us that we were made alive by Christ. Christ gave us this assurance of life with Him and that is why we celebrate Christmas every year because we need to be reminded of how God sent us a sign of hope and deliverance.
