Luke 21:12-19 (Todays Gospel): Jesus said: Men will seize you and persecute you; they will hand you over to the synagogues and to imprisonment, and bring you before kings and governors because of my name – and that will be your opportunity to bear witness. Keep this carefully in mind: you are not to prepare your defence, because I myself shall give you an eloquence and a wisdom that none of your opponents will be able to resist or contradict. You will be betrayed even by parents and brothers, relations and friends; and some of you will be put to death. You will be hated by all men on account of my name, but not a hair of your head will be lost. Your endurance will win you your lives.’ Considering my new found love and devotion to St. Peter, I encourage you to walk those waters that he did, and to grow in intimacy with Jesus (in the way He has set out for only you) like Peter did. Our journey is one of union with Jesus, but that journey involves great darkness and tribulation, suffering and trial, where we will be tempted to give up for lack of faith, hope and charity... especially when it comes to bearing witness. God would never give us encounters with people on a daily basis that He Himself knows we cannot handle; for He will complete in us what is lacking... it just takes trust in His unfailing Love for us first!
