Luke 22:39-46 And HE came out and went and was HIS custom, to the Mount of Olives, and the disciples followed HIM. And when HE came to the place, HE said to them, Pray that you may not enter into temptation. And HE withdrew from them about a stones throw, and knelt down and prayed, saying, FATHER, if you are willing, remove this cup from ME. Nonetheless, not MY will but YOURS. be done. And there appeared to HIM an angel from heaven, strengthening HIM. And being in an agony HE prayed earnestly, and HIS sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground. And when HE rose from prayer, HE came to the disciples and found them sleeping, for sorrow, and HE said to them, why are sleeping? Rise and pray that you may not enter into temptation.......... And HIS sweat became like great drops of blood ( which is a dangerous condition known as hematidrosis~ which is an effusion of blood in ones perspiration, it can be caused by extreme anguish or physical strain) Here is the LORD JESUS CHRIST, the Son of GOD and who is 100 percent man and 100 percent GOD....and who knew the plan of redemption for mankind before the foundation of the world......and yet on the eve of HIS betrayal in which HE was about be taken and tried and then suffer much for you and me ( his enemies) and yet with much anguish our LORD is suffering so much in the physical with what HE is about to partake for the sins of the world, that on a rather chilly night ( and we know that it is because before Peter betrays JESUS, he is at a fire warming his hands) HE is sweating great drops of blood and is praying to GOD the FATHER for strength to do HIS will but if possible also asking HIM to remove this cup from HIM......The man side of our LORD is feeling the anguish of what HE is about to do for the sins of the world~ we must never forget the great cost of what JESUS did for us......and the amazing grace that we received because of it......before CHRIST doing this, none of us had any hope for eternal life without wrath and damnation for all eternity,,,,,and yet this message is somehow lost today........the Gospel is not only the way to salvation but a glorious picture of love.....dont you see? How can any of us ever question the love CHRIST has for us after reading this and what HE went through for you and I.......while we were yet sinners GOD showed HIS great love for us by sending HIS SON....and JESUS freely gave HIS life (despite the anguish he endured before it and during it) for us......how amazing is HIS grace!!! We now have been reconciled back to GOD because of CHRIST......HE is our grace.....
