Luke 23:39-43 And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed - TopicsExpress

Luke 23:39-43 And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us. But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss. And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise. The sweet and simple message of salvation. How it brings joy to us which are saved. The two men that were crucified next to Christ were both just as guilty as the other, yet one received a different verdict. One might interject and say that they both died alike for their crimes, but Christ tells us different. One died with the promise of eternal life and the other without. What made the difference? One mocked Christ and the other believed Jesus was who He claimed to be. He admitted to the fact that he was guilty and Christ was innocent (sinless) and then asked Christ to remember Him. This man was not a theologian nor versed in the scriptures, but he came to the most important spiritual realization of his life. He was helpless and near death, a sinner justly condemned, knowing he needed mercy and not justice. If you have not placed your trust in Christ, you are in the same place. The due reward for your sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life by putting your trust in Christ. Turn to God today as the man on the cross did and, in faith, ask Christ to remember you! John 6:37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.
