Luke 5:4-5 says, 4 When he (Jesus) had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.” 5 Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.” Obedience is better than sacrifices. Peter obeyed our Lords word, he said, because you say so, I will let down the nets or in some other translations it says, nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.” Because Peter obeyed our Lords command, scriptures says Peter caught a great fish. Most of us attitude towards our Lord is, waiting attitude rather than DO-IT attitude, when the Lords commands us, we need to have DO-IT attitude. 1 Samuel 15:22 says, But Samuel replied: Does the LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the LORD? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams. If we love Jesus, we will keep His commandments (John 14:15). That means, If we love Jesus, we will follow Him, we will obey Him and do whatever the Lord ask us to do. Jesus warns us in Luke 6:46, “Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I tell you? When Peter was questioned by the high priest about not to preach about Jesus Christ, Peters reply was in Acts 5:29, But Peter and the apostles answered, “We must obey God rather than men. We see Peters commitment here to strictly follow Jesus though he was being arrested and put in jail but the angel of the Lord opened the doors of prison for Peter (read book of Acts 5th chapter). Dear beloved, are you willing to do it when the Lord command you? Do you have the DO-IT attitude? Or your attitude is waiting attitude or denying attitude? When you are willing to do what the Lord has commanded you, our Lord is faithful as 1 Thessalonians 5:24 wonderfully says, The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it. Though Peter denied our Lord Jesus Christ 3 times before his spiritual journey starts, yet GOD is a faithful God and HE never leave him nor forsake him when Peter obeyed HIS word. As Peter obeyed our Lord, we should do the same, obeying God’s word no matter what the consequences! God bless you!
