Luke 6:36-37 “36 Be merciful, as your Father is merciful. 37 Do - TopicsExpress

Luke 6:36-37 “36 Be merciful, as your Father is merciful. 37 Do not judge, and you will not be judged; and do not condemn, and you will not be condemned; pardon, and you will be pardoned.” To be merciful means to be compassionate, that is expressed by way of kind words and deeds. It is the kind of merciful compassion that is reviled by God by sending His Son to pay the price for each of us. (John 3: 16) . The same kind of mercy that was shown to us as in Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” You see we are to become like the Father and so we must also show this type of mercy.” In verse 37 it tells us 37 Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Is Jesus telling us here to never judge, that you are never to form or express a opinion, That does not really seem to be what He is saying; because if you look at verses 42 and 45, he states certain individuals as Hypocrites and evil. Even our Lord Jesus had come to some conclusions about the Pharisees and scribes had he not. But it is true we can not read a persons heart like Christ Jesus could, so our judgment must be more reserved and it should never be final. So what is the meaning here – that it is wrong to CONCENTRATE our attention on the speck in our brothers/sisters eye in a way that it occupies us, or does not allow us time to remove the log from our eyes. Vs42. The Lord is condemning hypercritical, self-righteous, without mercy, no love individuals. So the self-righteous, hypo judgmental, faultfinder must remember that he himself/herself can expect to be adversely criticized and condemned not only by man but especially by God. It goes on to show that we are not to condemn others, for if we do we will then also be condemned. But we are to pardon, as our Father has pardon us though our savior Jesus Christ. 1 Cor 13: 1-8 Love is the answer not self-righteous judgment. Glory to God for His love for us. Matthew 7:12 “In everything, therefore, treat people the same way you want them to treat you, for this is the Law and the Prophets.” Love is the answer: John 13:34, Matthew 22:37-40, LOVE!
