Luke 8:4-15 THE TEACHER MEMORY VERSE: Luke 8:4: And when much people were gathered together, and were come to him out of every city, he spake by a parable. Jesus often taught in parables. Using something at hand that His hearers could understand, He revealed deep spiritual truth. He was not interested in impressing religious leaders. His aim was to communicate the Gospel to the common people. And they heard Him gladly. If we are to be like Jesus, we must avoid the use of Christian code when witnessing to those who are lost. There are a number of terms that have become part of the language of Zion that the average person does not understand. Sounding religious is not the purpose of the earnest soul winner. He wants to convey the saving message in a way that will be clear to all. In explaining the new birth to Nicodemas, a ruler of the Jews, Jesus said: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16). That message of majestic simplicity has penetrated hearts of all ages. You may have been unsuccessful in leading others to Christ because you have been shooting over their heads. Aim lower. Speak in the language of the people. Communicate. Talk of sin, the love of God, repentance and faith. Dont make the message difficult. In your own words, tell exactly what happened to you when you received Christ. Meet others on their level of spiritual understanding. Leave deep doctrines for later. Use everyday experiences to illustrate your message. Today may bring your first experience of fruit bearing.JVIM
