Luton 15 November 2013 Witnesses Sought To Luton Assault Bedfordshire Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a 31 year old man was left needing stitches to his head after he seriously assaulted in Luton on Tuesday evening (November 12). The incident happened between 7.15 and 7.30pm at the junction of Medina Road and Dunstable Road, Luton, when the victim’s wife was involved in an argument with three offenders. The victim intervened, but as he did so he was punched in the face causing him to fall to the floor. The three offenders started to kick the victim before one of them hit him over the head with a watermelon – taken form a nearby shop - which caused a large cut to the victim’s head. The offenders then fled the area in a car which is believed to have had the registration number DG61 PXM. The victim was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries which included a number of stitches to his head, a laceration above his right eye and swelling to the right hand side of his face. Detective Constable Jo Barkat, who is investigating this assault, is keen to hear from any witnesses who were in the area at the time of the assault and may have seen the attack taking place. She would particularly like to hear from a man – possible with a young child - who was passing by at the time who stopped to assist the victim. The first offender was an Asian man, around five feet eight inches tall, of chubby appearance and wearing a tracksuit. The second offender was also Asian, in his mid-20s, of slender build and around five feet ten inches tall. The third offender was also Asian, slim build and around five feet ten inches tall.
