Lyon Arboretum is hiring for a UH Student Assistant Tree Maintenance Position! If you are interested and qualified, please see the details below. Position title: Assistant Tree Maintenance Worker Starting Pay Rate: $10.30 Work Schedule: Flexible, Mon-Sat (7:30am-4:00pm) Qualifications/Duties: Good attitude, dependable, caring, conscientious, thorough, able to get along well with people, self-motivating, but follows instructions well, must like physical outdoor work. Takes pride being a steward of nature and has passion for tree work. Must learn how to properly use the following tools (training is provided): chainsaw, handsaw, machete, and other lawn equipment machines such as weed-eater, lawn mower and blower. Able to work on steep terrain under wet, slippery conditions. Primary responsibilities involve assisting the Arborist in tree work operations; pruning, removals, climbing, rigging operations to lower branches, utilizing chainsaws and handsaws, hauling/piling brush and wood debris, and trail maintenance. Other duties may include lawn and garden maintenance; the use of lawn mowers, blowers, and weed-eaters, and pulling weeds. Must be an enrolled student and be able to commit 10-20 hours/week. Location: 3860 Manoa Rd. (back of Manoa Valley, 2.5 miles uphill from campus.
