Lyonia Environmental Center to host kids gardening club Young sprouts can learn how to make their garden grow during a new kids gardening club at Lyonia Environmental Center beginning Saturday, Oct. 5. “Can you dig it?” is designed for children ages 10 to 14 and their parents. It will meet from 3 to 4 p.m. on Oct. 5 and 13; Nov. 3, 9 and 23; Dec. 1 and 14; Jan. 4 and 12; and Feb. 1 and 9. According to Manager Sandy Falcon, “The club will provide fun, hands-on activities that will encourage understanding and respect for gardening, the environment and all living things.” Space is limited to the first 10 children, and advance registration is required for each class. Lyonia Environmental Center offers a unique insight into Volusia County’s fragile ecosystems through hands-on displays and computer-based learning modules. It’s part of the Deltona Regional Library complex at 2150 Eustace Ave. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free.
