Lyra C. Montclair, NJ A few days after Laku opened I passed a specials board which drew me in after leaving Dunkin Donuts. The special was running $8.95 for a generous salmon teriyaki box served with white rice, edamame, california roll, and soup/salad. We got three orders. The restaurant was empty but the hostess was very friendly welcoming me. In addition, she added and order of mango sushi for us to taste. The salmon was cooked very well. Recently went back on a date with my boyfriend on Sunday around 7pm on a holiday weekend. The restaurant steadily filled up throughout our meal. The servers seemed very overwhelmed as tables were not cleared and customers kept walking through the door. Our glasses were never refilled with water throughout the meal as a result of the influx. For the appetizer we ordered fried oysters which were very tasty accompanied with a lovely sauce. We figured it would be most economical to order the Sushi & Sashimi Roll Combo for Two including chefs choice of 7pcs sushi, 15pcs sashimi and 2 special rolls (your choice!) for $49. The fish was fresh, no smell. Total bill = $59. We will be returning and hoping the slow service will be improved upon our next visit!
