Lyrics of Mastāna Jogī Āyā re by Shree Hari Om Sharan in honor of Baba Muktananda (see video link above) [Eka] Mastāna Jogī āyā re Antara shaktī jagāne Alabelā jogī āyā re So’Ham nāda japāne An ecstatic yogi has come, To awaken our inner divine energy (shakti). A unique yogi has come, To awaken the inner sound of So’Ham (I Am That). Mahimā usakī gāyen kaise Vānī ruka ruka jāye Sanmkha usake āyen kaise Mastaka jhuka jhuka jāye Vo pāvana jyoti lāyā re Prabhu kī rāha batāne /1/ How can we sing of his greatness? Words cannot be found. How is it possible to meet face to face? Our heads naturally bow down. He has brought the light of purification, To brighten the path to the Lord. Charana dhare vo jisa dharatī pe Vo tīratha bana jāve Kshana bhara dekhe jisako yogi Chiti shaktī jaga jāve Vo amrita rasa bhara lāyā re Jīvana amara banāne /2/ Wherever he lays his feet, That place becomes holy. On whomever his glance falls even for a moment, He awakens the inner consciousness. He has brought the nectar of the gods, To make the individual immortal. Rid-dhī sid-dhī charanon men usake Bhaktī chanvara ddulāve Bhesha fakīrī Parama-hamsa vo Shahana-Shāha kahalāve Vo alakha jagāne āyā re Vānī agama sunāne /3/ Supernatural powers lie at his feet, Devotion itself fans him. Although dressed as a poor mendicant, He is a Parama-hamsa - a supreme soul. He is called the emperor of emperors. He has come to reveal the Lord within, And convey the supreme wisdom of the scriptures. Rahanī karanī adabhuta usakī Kahanī ajaba nirālī Kabhī pyāra de bahuta dulāre Kabhī sunāve gāli Hara bāta men tatva samāya re Biralā hī pahechāne /4/ His life and actions are strange, And his words mysterious. Sometimes he showers you with great affection, Sometimes he showers you with abuses. Everything he does is full of meaning. But only a rare person can recognize him. Antara ke saba bharama mittāve Sānchā jnāna sunāve Jīva Shīva eka rūpa batākara Para-brahma darshāve Nita nityānanda bahāya re Koī āvo bhakta nahāne /5/ He removes all our inner doubts, He acquaints you with the Truth, That the individual soul (jiva) and God (Shiva) are One. He gives us a glimpse of the Supreme Being. The bliss of the Eternal, eternally flows from him, So devotees can come and bathe in it. Amara ujālā bikharāyegi Ye Muktesh-vara vānī Soyā kana kana jāga utthegā Jāgegā hara prāni Koī vishva guru bana āyā re Koī māne yā na māne /6/ His words in Muktesh-vari will spread illumination everywhere, Awakening every slumbering particle of consciousness, All living beings will awaken. A preceptor for the whole world has come, Whether one believes it or not. Bhava bandhana men jakadde prāni Jaga kī tthokara khānven Lakha chaurāsī yoni bhugate Sach-chā sukha nahīn pāven Jahān Muktānanda samāyā re Vo āyā mukti dilāne /7/ Bound by the chains of worldliness, Humanity suffers the blows of life. Even after 8,400,000 births and deaths, True happiness is still not attained. Muktananda has come to bring us freedom. Jīva-pane kā bharama mittā kara Ātama jnāna batāve Janma marana se nyārā hai tu Tat Tvam Asi sunāve Vo mati palttāne āyā re Satya svarūpa lakhāne /8/ Destroying the sense of individuality, He instructs us on the inner Self. He tells us: “You are beyond birth and death, You are That!” He has come to turn our minds inward, To Show us our True form. Kripā punja he deva deva Hama kyā sevā men lāyen Hātha jodda vandana karate aura Charanana shīsha jukhāven Gurudeva Sharana main āyā re Nija saravasva chaddhāne /9/ O God of Gods, you are the abode of grace, What homage can we offer? With folded hands we offer obeisance, Our heads bow at your feet. Gurudeva, we have come to take refuge in you, To offer our all to you. Sadgurunath Maharaj ki Jai!
