M.O.R.-My Official Review A short one today. Ill put the not-so-great movies in now, the better ones in tomorrow night or Saturday morning. For now, we have a big, bloody battle and a nerd who sees dead people. Lets see... 300: Rise of an Empire The first 300, although filled with its respective flaws, was not hard to remember, with its slo-mo battle scenes and quotable lines, it had a certain uniqueness to its insanity. Though this movie has its own share of impressive visual action sequences, its seems to have issue with giving the viewer anything more than a gory sequel with little to distinguish itself from the predecessor that launched Gerard Butlers career. There are parts of the action that feel just plain ridiculous. The CGI blood comes in buckets and waterfalls, which may appeal to fans of grindhouse-esque features. The director here is Noam Murro, the director of a dramedy called Smart People, and Zack Snyder returns as producer/writer along with Kurt Johnstad. Eva Green is the scenery-chewing actor here, which helps things considerably, but not enough for this to still not feel like a retread. The WAY over-the-top violence will strongly appeal to anyone searching for a brawns without the brains type of flick, but I wouldnt pay much money for a ticket. This would be an awesome Redbox movie, but thats about the size of it. Odd Thomas: From the guy that directed/produced the Mummy movies, Van Hesling and a whole bunch of other mid-level fantasy bullshit comes this out-of-touch Scooby-Doo episode brought to life. Anyone whos a fan of the best-selling novel might want to steer clear. I cant recommend this one, its just got nothing going for it. Dang, Ill be typin this weekend. Ive still got Mr. Peabody & Sherman, the new Wes Anderson feature and a couple creepy thrillers. Until then, Im out! ???: Whats the most violent movie you think youve ever seen?
