MABELREIGN GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL PRESS RELEASE: 05 MARCH 2014 SCHOOLS WARM UP TO TARIRO NEGITARE Once beaten, twice shy! What about 5 beatings! The 5th International Women’s Day Schools Concert will be held on Saturday the 15th of March at Mabelreign Girls Schools starting 10am until 3pm in the afternoon. The event, now a permanent feature on the calendar for many music departments in schools celebrates achievements by young women in today’s Zimbabwe. As is the norm to invite a special guest star artist from the mainstream music industry, the Schools Concert is working with Tariro NeGitare or TNG as she is popularly known by hey myriad of fans. “Yes, I can confirm that TNG has agreed to be our star and she will perform a good one hour for the students after the 10 invited primary and secondary schools have staged their acts” said Mhlanga, the Schools Concert organiser. “What is interesting this year is that we are pairing TNG with Gary Tight and his band, Zion Originated in what we hope will be a thrill musical experience for our young school musicians” he added. TNG has been in the industry for a while now performing solo with her guitar after having spent a long time with Jazz Crooner, Edith WeUtonga. Her music ranges from frenzy love omasiganda tunes to hip hop on guitar specially fit for the young at heart and active on the feet! Interestingly Morgan High School is expected to stage Ras Pompy who is now a form one at the Arcadia based school. His music teacher, Mr. Warara confirmed that the ZimDancehall hit maker Ras Pompey will definitely be part of their act at the Schools Concert! The International Women’s Day Schools Concert is a celebration of achievements by young women in today’s Zimbabwe using the Arts and Culture lasting hours of networking, live music performances, theatre, Mbira and marimba ensembles, choirs, drama, debate and so much more.
