MAD PEOPLE SHOULDN’T HAVE GUNS. A news report came up that some idiot with a rifle opened fire in a crowded shopping centre, killing several people and injuring others. When the police came and ordered him to put the gun down, he saw that he was cornered with no-where to run, he turned the gun on himself and shot himself after taking the barrel of the gun in his mouth. He was suffering with mental problems and was under treatment from hearing voices in his head. I said to Mrs Wicks, you hear the news? Yes she said, he should have been in a psychiatric hospital. Mad people like that shouldn’t be allowed to own guns. I agreed with her, but the problem was, where did he get it? It didn’t belong to his parents whom he was living with, nor was it stolen. He must have bought it from a gunshop she said. Either that or he may have bought it from an auction sale somewhere or even found it thrown away at a dump. He may have got it from a dump she said, because he didn’t have any money on him, probably got it and the bullets from the dump I said, people will throw anything away if they don’t want it, even guns and bullets. You know yourself from news reports that kids scrounging at dumps blew themselves up while playing with live grenades so someone may have thrown this gun away with all the ammunition and the mad thing found it and used it thinking he’ll rob a bank or something. Anything is possible you know and I’m glad I don’t have a gun myself. The funny thing was, only the previous night there was an FBI film on television, how Efrem Zimbalist Junior caught a man with an old gun like that who was firing into a crowd, and rather than give himself up to the police, the silly thing took the barrel of the gun in his mouth and pulled the triggter on himself. This idiot doing it must have seen the television show. This business of them shooting into the crowd or kidnapping someone, and shooting himself rather than surrendering comes from America, they usually show them on TV cerials and some people take it to heart thinking they have beaten the law by doing that.
