This Udit Narayan sung solo , Main Yahaan Hoon, set in a haunting romantic mood was recreated from a sad tune of Madanji in which he had written the dummy words himself.. ‘Ab kisko kahoon apna humdum, Humdum to Mera begaana tha’. It was indeed a challenge to adapt it for the Veer Zaara situation. Javed Akhtar rewrote lyrics to Madanji’s meter and as per the brief of Yashji who viusalised this song so well. The first interlude had to be based on a well known Punjabi folk song for the film situation while the second interlude was based on yet another unused tune of Madanji..
