MAKE A REAL DIFFERENCE WITH US Hey folks, would you like to help keep our Kapululangu Women’s Law and Culture Centre open and make a real difference for our Aboriginal Women Elders in one of Australia’s most remote Desert communities? We’re located in Balgo Aboriginal Community in the south-east Kimberley. We’re Australia’s only Aboriginal Women’s Law and Culture Centre and we’re severely disadvantaged by being so very, very remote. We have no funding. Our Women Elders grew up in the desert before they had first contact with White society. They wish to live together on the Women’s Law Ground where they can continue to practice their Law and culture and enjoy the company of their families rather than live in a mainstream-run Aged Care facility in someone else’s Country. They want to keep teaching their Younger Generations - to be proud of their Aboriginality, to be Strong for Law - Strong for Culture. Kapululangu is looking for the following volunteers: Marlpa (Companions) (in Balgo) (women-only - sorry, can’t accommodate men or children) - come and stay a month (or two or three) with us helping to care for the Elders. Live on the Women’s Law (ceremonial) Ground in Balgo with us. Job includes providing personal care, cooking and cleaning, driving and occasional picnics and hunting trips to Country. We’re currently looking to fill October or November, but if you are available any time this year or next we want to hear from you. Please get in touch with us for more information. Marlpa Manager (Volunteer Program Manager) (women-only) - We’re looking for a very special woman with a background in Aged Care to live with and care for the Women Elders for 6 months (minimum) to 12 months, be their main carer, and manage our volunteer program. The following positions can be filled by women or men (we’ve got heaps of brothers out there). Administrative Assistant/s (virtual) - work with us from your home conducting basic administrative jobs. Grant Writers (virtual) - join a team of grantwriters or organise fundraising activities and send the donations to Kapululangu. (Kapululangu is an Indigenous Corporation, a registered charity, and a Public Benevolent Institute with Tax Deductibility status). Crowd-Funding Organiser (virtual) - assist us to develop a Crowd-Funding Campaign. Financial Accountant (virtual) - we’re looking for an Accountant to take on managing Kapululangu’s fiscal responsibilities Kapululangu pro-bono. Minimum commitment is 12 months. Marketer for 2015 Camps Program - someone with background in Events Marketing or Public Relations to publicize our 2015 Camps Program – both nationally and internationally. Social Media Manager (virtual) - someone to manage our social media campaign using a variety of venues (eg FB, Twitter), to help put Kapululangu on the Australian and world map. Newsletter Manager (virtual) - manage, set-up, write and distribute a monthly newsletter for Kapululangu (we’ll provide the stories from here). Social Media Tutor (virtual) - I’m looking for someone to tutor me in Social Media (starting with MailChimp). Fund-Raisers (virtual) - if you can organise a fund-raising event in your own local area or even nationally we are urgently in need of funds. We have a fund-raising package available to guide you. Past virtual fund-raisers have run music concerts, If you are available to fulfil one or more of these needs please let us know asap or whenever you become available as we can use all the assistance we can get. Please ensure that you have at least 5 hours a week to devote to your chosen tasks. (More hours may be required and are negotiable – you just tell us how many hours you can spare.) You can learn more about Kapululangu’s work and about our Elders at: General: kapululangu.org 2015 Camps Program: kapululanguculturecamps Face Book: search for Kapululangu Aboriginal Women’s Association If you are interested in assisting with any of the above task-areas please email us at kwc.vols@gmail and we’ll send you more information. Please let your friends know about Kapululangu and our call for partnership… Maybe they too would like to make a real difference to the lives of Aboriginal people. Finally, if you’d like to make a donation (small or large) please consider arranging a monthly donation to our bank account: Commonwealth Bank Kununurra Branch Kapululangu Aboriginal Women’s Association BSB: 066 530 Acc: 1010 7707 Please Like, Share and Network Zohl de Ishtar for the Kapululangu Elders.
