MAKING JESUS AS LORD AND SAVIOUR On one occasion, the distinguished English parliamentarian Wilberforce, invited Sir Pitt a fellow parliamentarian, to come to church and hear his Pastor speak. While traveling back in the carriage, Wilberforce ask Pitt what he thought of the message. Pitt answered, The oratory was out standing, the eloquence was great, the sermon well organized; but I did not understand a word of it. We read in 1 Corinthians chapter 2, vs. 14 these words, But the natural man receiveth not the things of the spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him; neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned(or spiritually blind). How very important it is in our efforts to reach people for Christ, that we depend upon the blessed Holy Spirit to open the eyes of the unsaved person. How sad for Sir Pitt, and for millions and millions of others, that are without Christ and without hope! How very important it is for preachers of the Gospel, to depend upon the Holy Spirit in their ministry. We as ministers must preach the glorious message of saving grace, through the precious blood of Jesus, and in the power of the Holy Spirit under the anointing; it is then that lost sinners will hear and like Sir Pitt, will understand and be saved. As Pastor, it is my responsibility to invite you to repent of your sin, turn your life over to Christ, that is to surrender your life to Him and receive the Lord Jesus Christ by faith, allowing Him to become Lord and Saviour of your life! That if thou shall confess with thy mouth that Jesus is Lord, and shall believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shall be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation - Romans 10:9, 10.
