MALAYA 10 SINS IN SARAWAK (Draft) ==================== SIN 1. We have to tolerate 36 years of regressive educational system and we have to sacrifice 3 generations of global competitiveness in the name of Nationhood. Yet Racial & Religious polarization in Malaysia today is worse than the early days of Independence; SIN 2. After 49 years of Centralized economic & financial mis-management the National Debt totaled RM430 billion or 55% of GDP. Debt created to develop Malaya and NOT Sarawak which Sarawak now must share to pay; SIN 3. For the interest of the Nationhood and protecting the National interest, policies were created at the expense of Sarawak’s economic well being as well as sacrificing its economic potentials. For example Sarawak has to suffer years of discrimination & disenfranchisement, as the result Sarawak having one of the highest cost of living and the highest cost of doing business in Malaysia; SIN 4. After 50 years with Malaysia, Sarawak has one of the worse Health systems and amongst the highest incidence of VECTOR diseases. In addition: a. Sarawak is suffering from insufficient Specialist, Doctors, and Nurses; b. Sarawak has insufficient medical Facilities and Infrastructure; c. Sarawak has higher infant mortality rate: total: 15.02 deaths/1,000 live births compared to 14.57 for the nation; (as at 2012) SIN 5. Although boasting the most number of hydropower projects development in the country, Sarawak still suffer the amongst highest interruption of electricity supply in Malaysia compared to the lowest interruption in Malaya. As the result Sarawak lost the chance to industrialized and encourage investments opportunities and most important of all job opportunities for the people; SIN 6. Sarawak is the main producer of Petroleum, Oil & Gas in Malaysia, yet Sarawak also has the one of the highest incidence of POVERTY in the Country and insufficient BASIC Needs; a. Sarawak (& Sabah) has 6,000 km of sealed roads compared to 21,300 in Malaya; b. Sarawak (& Sabah) has more insufficient clean water supply coverage compared to Malaya; c. Sarawak (& Sabah) has the lowest coverage for electricity supply compared to Malaya; SIN 7. Despite expensive National spending on security, the large presence of illegal immigrants are evidence the borders are porous & unsecured (critical issue in Sabah, but may be hidden issues in Sarawak); SIN 8. We have lost our political autonomy through the presence of Malaya based political parties, in particular BN and PR. Although we have local based political parties being given mandate by the people of Sarawak to safeguard the interest of Sarawak people, it is also true to say that as Barisan Nasional component parties, these local-based political parties are not in the position to be independently able to make decisions in the interest of Sarawak people without having to consult their master in Malaya (UMNO). SIN 9. Though we still have control over immigration into our States, entrance for non-Sarawakian Malaysian has been relaxed to allow them entry using NRIC instead of Passport for social/tourist visits within 90 days. These are subject to abuse by the business people from Malaya. SIN 10. The Annual National Budget, does not emphasize the importance of Sarawak in Malaysia, even when Sarawak represent one of the highest contributer to the National Coffer. (For example: In 2011 Budget which totaled RM109 billion. Sabah & Sarawak was allocated RM9.75 billion. This means each of the Borneo state was allocated less than 5% of the National Budget. Yet Sabah & Sarawak contributed to more than 60% of National Income) ^^DRAFT^^ ================================================= Realizing and not limited to the above 10 SINS that Malaya has incurred to Sarawak for the past 50 years we were with them, we must demand that the Malaysia Agreement 1963 shall be evoked to remind Malaya that Malaysia is greater than the sums of all its parts. The process of Nation building and development of the centre shall not be at the expense of the periphery. No part of Malaysia shall be marginalized, discriminate, and disenfranchised for the benefit of a privilege few or a new class. The Nation belongs to the people and it should be build to the interest and welfare of the people. Failure is not an option, because failure means disintegration.
