MALAYSIAN AIRWAYS 370: Deepening mystery. It has never occurred in this manner before. It is clear now that the plane was hijacked, probably with months of planning before final execution. According to an experienced pilot on CNN, it is not so easy to turn off the transponder, but since it was meticulously planned, this aspect could have been seen to. Initially, in one of these columns, I hazarded a guess that the plane had engine trouble and turned back towards Malaya peninsula, but now it is clear that there was no engine trouble but plane was commandeered by unknown persons and taken to a destination which appears to be in Central Asia. The likelihood is all passengers are alive. What is not known is what the motive and what are the demands and when would that be announced. As ten days have passed, and they had enough time to make the shifts of passengers to different places in groups (I assume) they should be ready with their demands any time now. As most of the passengers are Chinese, the hijack probably involves the Chinese troubled state of Xinjiang where Uighur Muslims are battling for independence since 1947 (according to inquisitr). The Chinese, a super power, probably are at advanced stage of negotiations with the captors but nothing is revealed as yet.
