MALOMBE BLAMES JUBILEE OVER MAKUENI WRANGLES, DENIES PLAN TO DITCH WIPER Kitui Governor Julius Malombe has said that Jubilee operatives are working to destabilise the Wiper party leadership in the three counties of Ukambani. Malombe said there was a sinister external hand in the leadership rows pitting the governors and MCAs in the respective Ukambani counties. Once the area leadership crumbles, the area will easily fall into the hands of rival Jubilee alliance, he said. “If they manage to bring down the leadership of Makueni county, where Governor Kivutha Kibwana is facing impeachment, they will turn to Machakos and Kitui and Wiper party will have been dealt a death blow in its Ukambani bedrock,” Malombe said. He said he has enjoyed a cordial relationship with the Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, with whom he is making concerted efforts to reconcile Governor Kibwana and antagonistic Makueni MCAs. Malombe criticised newspaper reports that governors had threatened to defect from Wiper party and the Cord alliance. The reports claimed Kalonzo had failed to protect the governors from attacks by Wiper MCAs, who are the majority in Ukambani counties. “The author of the report wrote his own imaginary things. We stressed on reconciliation for the wrangling parties. Where did the issue of abandoning Wiper arise from?” Malombe said. |The Star|
