MAN AIRLIFTED AFTER TAKING ILL AT VAN PARK A 60-year-old man was airlifted to Sydneys Westmead Hospital early this afternoon (24-1-15) after suffering a medical episode at a caravan park on the Hawkesbury River north of the city. The CareFlight rapid response trauma team were called to the Riviera Caravan Park on River Road, Lower Portland at 12.10 pm. The man had been holidaying with family and friends when illness struck. With NSW Ambulance also on the scene, CareFlights specialist doctor provided initial treatment and medication before the man was transferred to the waiting helicopter. The aircraft landed at Westmead at 1.28 pm when the man was taken to the emergency department for further scans and tests.
