MAN CHARGED WITH THREATENING CALLS TO ISLAMIC ORGANISATION AT LAKEMBA Wednesday, 01 October 2014 01:14:40 PM A man has been charged with allegedly threatening an organisation at Lakemba last week. On Tuesday 23 September 2014 an Islamic organisation received numerous voicemail messages which contained derogatory and offensive comments. Police from Campsie Local Area Command were alerted and commenced an investigation. About 2.40pm on Saturday 24 September 2014 investigators attended a residence in the Tuggerah Lakes Local Area Command and spoke to a 54-year-old man. During a search of the premises investigators located and seized several items for forensic examination. About 9am the following day investigators attended Wyong Police Station and attempted to interview the man. He was later treated by Ambulance Paramedics at the police station and conveyed to Wyong Hospital for treatment. The man will be charged with use carriage service to menace/harass/offend x 10. It is anticipated that he will appear at Wyong Local Court on 12 November 2014. Campsie Local Area Command Crime Manager, Detective Inspector Paul Albury said police will not tolerate this kind of behaviour. “These types of bias related offences are serious and I urge members of the community to come forward if they have evidence of wrong doing. “Police will investigate fully any claims of racial, religious or homophobic abuse. “Campsie Local Area Command will not tolerate behaviour that is unlawful or offensive,” Detective Inspector Albury said.
