MAN…..LIVING IN A WORLD OF HIS OWN 1 A wise man once said “until everyman is free, all men are slaves”, he might not have known the gravity of such a statement in centuries to come. Little do we know that the social nature of the subject called man has never stopped hunting him down the path of his evolution? Competition, survival, and dominance have and will always be the dark cloud that hangs over the heads of men. The strongest of them becomes the superior while the weakest of all found themselves in the lowest rank of the survival chain. Sometimes I try to search for answers, of what criteria do men place himself in social hierarchy? Amazingly, I realised that they are not farfetched from us; in fact man is a prime factor in social hierarchism. Looking down the annals of man’s evolution, from the Stone Age, Bronze Age, and Iron Age down to the Computer Age in which we are now, it can be deduced that with each of the ages comes questions that need an answer to, an answer that can only be provided by man only. Answers such as; food and shelter, crude farming and hunting tools, and lastly communication, transportation and mechanization. Man has always been so smart to provide the right answers at the right time the question comes asking, but at what cost. Those able to produce the answers in due time are always on the pinnacle of the hierarchy while the laggards are shown where they belong, in the abyss of man’s hierarchy. But alas, as the fleeting years passes by, the questions comes pouring, answers are provided and the gap widens, and this continued unnoticed, or should I say it’s just a rule of thumb.
