MANGAN, March, 10: National Disaster Relief Force 2nd battalion in coordination with Sikkim State Disaster Management Unit and LR&DM organized practical mock drill on disaster management and preparedness at three places, MSSS school, DAC complex and at Mangan bazaar car plaza, on March 10. The motive of the programme was to aware general public and youths on rescue, evacuation, first Aid, evaluation of sort falls and preparedness. After the mock drill a coordination meeting was organized at DAC Conference Hall with all the teamwork and was discussed on how much everyone is prepared for the disaster. It was also noticed that, the teamwork is lacking behind in crowd control, traffic management, communication, arrangement of doctors, surgical teams and beds, shortage of basic equipments and relief materials, provision of fire fighting equipments at Schools of North district and running behind without proper confirmation. ADC, North, RK Yadav in his address informed that the disaster relief teamwork which had all department officers had to focus on proper communication, crowd and traffic management, rescue through local basic equipments, self help first Aid provision for injuries after rescue and evacuation, proper communication in short time, provision of vehicles, local volunteers has to be trained properly, any department officials should not be given leave. And then the concerned department staff should start their restoration works for power supply, water supply, roads and communication, ration goods and then others management. DM(N), in his address informed that he has been getting several complain about the BSNL poor services above Toong-Naga, Chungthang, Lachen, Lachung and upper Dzongu. So, the BSNL authorities should provide proper services in the areas as in election period everyone faces problems in communication, though the BSNL services are very good at the time of any disaster and it is preferred by all users. And he concluded thanking everyone and informed to sort out the problems and act accordingly as per suggestions and directions laid in the meeting for disaster management. The programme was participated by SP(N), RN Yadav, CMO(N), Dr.DS Kerogee, SDM, GVA and other department officers. department of Police, Army jawans, health, Fire service, ITBP force, SSDMU team, students, PHE, Power, NGO members, volunteers and all department officers.
