MANHATTAN NY ACC - BEFORE THE LIST EVEN COMES OUT I WANT TO SHARE THIS POOR GIRL: A volunteer writes: One can only imagine the sad and neglected life Sally has led. One look at her and your heart breaks in two, and a minute spent with her reinforces the admiration for the resiliency of dogs and their capacity to forgive. Sally is emaciated, every rib shows, her hip bones just out, and she has sores and calluses at all her pressure points. Her body has tumors of all sizes, she is blind, likely deaf, and has now been diagnosed with pneumonia. Shes severely dehydrated, lapping up four bowls of water in rapid succession. Yet, when I opened her kennel to take her out, her tail wagged a bit, and out she came. We walked slowly across the street where she took care of business, posed for some photos, sniffed out the treats in my hand and took them gently, and then made friends with two people who stopped to meet her. She wagged her tail shyly at meeting new people, and then was happy to come back inside to curl up again and sleep. Sally needs to know that there are people who care, people who will provide a soft bed, medical care, nutritious food, a soft touch and a smile. It may be the only time in her life that she will feel safe. SALLY WILL BE ON THE LIST TONIGHT - PLEASE SHARE HER FAR AND WIDE - SHE NEEDS ALL THE HELP SHE CAN GET - TAG FOR RESCUES EVERYWHERE!!!
