MANILA - Two Filipinos are missing after their ship, the Maria, collided with a fishing trawler on the North Sea and sank off the Dutch coast on Monday, Oct. 7, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said. DFA spokesman Raul Hernandez confirmed in a text message that the Philippine Embassy at The Hague had reported the incident between the 32-meter Maria and the fishing trawler Texel 68. The cause of the crash was not reported. The Maria was a security vessel for an oil drilling platform about 40 kilometers southwest of the Dutch navy port of Den Helder. Two Filipinos were among five crew members. Three of them went missing during the accident, including the two Filipinos. Fishermen aboard the Texel 68 saw all five of crew members of Maria on the bridge wearing life jackets after the collision, according to reports.
