MANILA SWAMP Friends and family will have read of my exasperation with Manila. I simply would NEVER live there. Anne and I avoid it whenever possible. Our stay there last weekend was caused solely by an unreliable air carrier, Tiger Airline, which cancelled flights on us. Making the best of the situation, we passed a weekend in the swamp known as Manila. I was only wetted in ankle deep water. Scrubbing my feet with strong soap was a mild task compared to the dangers of wading through infected waters at greater depths.
