MAPOLY STRIKE UPDATE ISSUE DISCUSSED AT THE CONGRESS HELD TODAY. -ASUP MAPOLY CHAPTER ON STRIKE The strike was promted by the following reasons by the academic staff *The promotion exercise for 2012/2013 was not held for 4 years *Salary arrears *once there is no promotion, there cannot be increament in the salary *MAPOLY account has been frozen *Issue of the new rector(will be around 11/11/2013) STEPS ALREADY TAKEN AND STEP TO BE TAKEN BY THE SUG * A 72 hour press release ultimatum was issued and no reply or consideration has been given to it *The commisioner of Education said he suppports the motive of ASUP *The Governor denied the knowledge of his awareness of the strike, when the SUG made mention of it at a seminar at Cultural centre KUTO *A letter of protest has been issued, and it may lead to the shut down of the capital of the state by MAPOLY students(be prepared). *A communique of the congress would be sent to the security operatives of the state. NOTE: all information gathered and disemminated is from the SANU,SSANIP,ASUP, as no info has been gathered from the state government quaters, as a result of ban of information from any state official as declared by the governor of the state.
