MAPUSAS FLOWER MARKET TO BE R.I.P. ??? There is a bid by the Mapusa Municipality to demolish the Mapusas Heritage Flower Market in the middle of the Mapusa Market [recently called as Mapusa Municipal Market] which has been built during the Portuguese times, not by the Portuguese but by Mapxemkar-GOANS, and on its ruins, to build a COMMERCIAL BLOCK . The Occupants of the Flower Market are up in arms against this bid and rightly so. It must be remembered that the entire Mapusa Market was built by V.M. Salgaokar & Co. but with a difference. This particular structure was sub-contracted to a GERMAN firm to use the then latest technology not available to them in building, because this particular block was intended to last and honour the entire Market as a showpiece for many coming years as a pride of MAPUSA MARKET. Even today, this structure is very sound and can last for another fifty or more years, experts say. The reason given by the Municipality bosses is that the present Flower Market does not earn any revenue and therefore, to accomodate bondwalkars from outside Goa, these hungry wolves want to destroy GOAs, and more specifically, BARDEZS wonder of yester-years to fill their pockets. What a shallow thinking !!! It is believed that COMUNIDADE Owned lands in and around Mapusa are up for grabs with the complicity of the Mapusa Comunidade to be handed over to the building lobby from outside. One such project [near Ajay Supermarket, Mapusa, was stopped by brining to the notice of the esteemed High Court of Bombay at Goa by the undersigned the irregularities done by the ex-councillor of Mapusa who is no more to grab this peice of agricultural field from the original Comunidade tenant, to include his name over the property as a tenant and then tell the courts that his name was wrongly included. He paid the price for this act of mega corruption while he was living. However, the buiilding lobby and the Comunidade of Mapusa were relieved when the Hon. HC decided that it cannot interfere in the Comunidade matters and that the case needs to be taken to an appropriate forum. This, inspite of pointing out severe manipulations by the Comunidade of Mapusa. The case is now with the so called appropriate forum and if Mapemkars are conscious of this loot of the Comunidade property and others , will raise their eyebrows and take note. Mapusa needs a new generation Market and there is no doubt about this. But this should not be at the cost of the only HERITAGE structure that Mapusa Market has got to remind the world that this was done during the Portuguese era some 60 years ago by GOANS themselves and not the Portuguese. GSRP wants the entire BARDEZ to raise its voice as one against this fool-hardiness of the CORRUPT MINDS elected to places, sabotaging the very places they need to PROTECT and paid heavily and substantially legitimately and illegitimately PROTECT. We are told that the FLOWER MARKET tenants are organizing a massive meeting of the BARDEZKARS at the FLOWER MARKET COMPLEX in a few days time to bring this hidden from the PUBLIC EYE issue by the powers that be for obvious reasons. We urge each and every one BARDEZKAR to note this development with serious mind and lend whatever support of encouragement possible to those brave ones from the Flower Market busibodies who do not want this HERITAGE STRUCTURE demolished for a MOTH EATEN EDIFICE built on CORRUPTION and SELF PROMOTION. Let us all move as one to STOP THIS STUPIDITY once and for all. WE BARDEZKARS DO NOT WANT A COMMERCIAL COMPLEX IN PLACE OF OUR HERITAGE FLOWER MARKET ARE WE READY FOR THIS ONE?? THEN, IN GOOD TIME, WE SHALL MOVE AS ONE TO DRIVE AWAY THESE NATIONAL FORCES WHO ARE BENT ON DISTROYING OUR GOA TO SAVE, NOT ONLY OUR MAPUSA MARKET BUT OUR ENTIRE GOA FOR US GOANS.
