MARION – A mother accused of beating her 6-year-old daughter will face a jury in about two months. Brandy E. Miller will face child endangerment charges at a jury trial scheduled for Nov. 20 according to the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office. A pretrial appearance has been set for Oct. 9. Miller, 36, of Marion, was accused of abusing her child after a babysitter discovered suspicious marks on the girl, according to police. Marion police Detective Ben Graff said the alleged signs of abuse were discovered after the kids were dropped off at a neighbor’s home last week. Graff said “you can see the belt marks” on one of her four children. The child was taken to the hospital according to Marion County Prosecutor Brent Yager. He said photographs taken of the marks show “extreme or cruel punishment of the child” and served as sufficient evidence for an indictment. Miller was arrested Sept. 8 in the 400 block of North Greenwood Street. She was initially charged with felonious assault and endangering children. Yager said those charges were dropped after reviewing the case. Charges were filed Sept. 11 for one count of endangering children, a third-degree felony. Miller is being held at the Multi-County Correctional Center. Graff said he did not expect any additional charges in the case.
